> 2 questions regarding K750

Alright, it's like this, I saw this very nifty adaptor at a local electronics shop but I don't have a picture. It is essentially a charger tip that fits onto a Nokia charger tip, so that you can use it to charge a mobile phone of a different brand (they have several different charging tips). I'm looking at the one that would work with my K750i, but I'm not sure if it's advisable to use a non-SE charger. I don't know if the current and voltage are the same and whether there'll be any adverse effects if I use it.
Next question is, I never seem to be able to get the battery status to show 100%, even if it's just been fully charged. It's the same whether I charge my phone when it's on or off. Is this a common problem? The battery life of my K750 is extremely good, but I'm just curious. Thanks!

I think the phone is capable of moderating the input voltage and current to necessary values (within reason) as long as the charger is a higher voltage than the phone. Now SE K750 battery is 3.6V and an old nokia charger is 3.7 volts, so it may be just enough to trickle charge the phone. I'm no expert and I'm only guessing. However some voltage is lost due to regulator inefficiencies (in the charger) and it may not be quite enough voltage. If your charger has more than 3.7volts it should be more than adequate.
USB phone chargers deliver 5 volts with no current regulation or voltage step down, to a wide range of phones, so as long as you have more than 3.6-4.0 volts or so, you should be right.
Battery status issue is a bug, there is a patch for the main firmware available at SE-NSE, give them a visit and search for battery patch, you should find it easy enough.
Note though, that while the phone doesn't display full charge, it actually is fully charged.

That's one way of looking at it. Another is to wonder why you should waste $30 on a new charger when you already have one that probably works fine.
I regularly charge my cell with usb charging (surely a lot less precise amperage and voltage delivery) and also with generic tip swapping type charging systems yet I have noticed no degradation or damage caused to my cell or batt.
The fact is the cell handles most of the important task regarding charging so it's not as critical as it was in the old days as to what charger is used.

Dunno if it helps but I've got a USB charger with those kinds of tips for Nokias, old style connector SEs, Samsungs and a couple of others, and have used it with no problem on a few makes and models of phone.
I guess as already stated it depends on the output of this charger - my SE FastPort charger states it's output is 4.9v, 450mA if that helps.

My guess is that if the manufacturer of the charger with switchable tips provides a tip for SE, then it's going to work okay. They won't open themselves up to complaints and returns of product for something that thier trained electrical engineer can easily calculate the required values for.

The ones I saw in the late 90's (mostly, yeah . . . for NOKIA fones) uses 2-AA batts. I guess those thing won't do any harm . . . I know that they are a CHEAP charger . . . better get yourself ONE and TRY it . . . just make sure that it's UNDER warranty . . . About the 100% charging on your K750's battery . . . I always get a 100% wheter I charge it on an ORIGINAL and a REPLACEMENT (takes longer though) chargers . . . maybe, your charger has a PROBLEM here
Or the amount of TIME you've been charging it
It usually takes 1.5 hours on mine when I charge it . . . ALMOST - flat out !

Thanks for the useful information guys, really appreciate all your help. the battery status indicator is a small issue, so I'm not gonna do anything about it as long as I know the battery is charging fine. The manufacturer of the tips make only those, they do not make the charger as the tips are meant to be used with a Nokia charger. I have plenty of those lying around the house, so it's cheaper to get that than a new SE charger.

@deluded - Regarding what you said about charging the FONE both in ON and OFF modes . . . . well, as from my experience with my T68i (having the origina; rubberized battery still . . .) I made notice that the battery LASTS longer when I charge it in OFF mode than in ON . . .

@jojo, I believe I do notice the same phenomenon, but I'm not sure if it's true. In any case, I usually prefer to charge my phone when it's off. Just a habit I guess.
