Just recieved P990i not even turned it on yet just need to know what I need to do to get it up to speed.
How and what updates do I need etc...
Not had a P series since 900 so little bit rusty any help would be appreciated

I got mine a little less than a month ago, and the first thing I can recommend is to make sure you've got the R9 firmware (go into the main menu with flip open (or off), click the top and then system information.) If you have done any changes on the phone, REMEMBER TO MAKE A BACKUP (using the PC Suite). Then try to update with SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service). The R9 firmware is very new, just about a week old, so it might not be available for your phone yet.
After that I'd turn off the handwriting recognition if you're sure you're not going to use it. That results in a more stable phone and snappier interface.
The free
Swiss Manager (not the pro version) is also recommended. (Well, the pro version too, but that costs money...)
