> Weird Charging Problem
Bookmark topic
Hey guys. Heres something weird i noticed. Sometimes when my battery dies out completely and i hook it up the the charger, the screen turns on but remains white. It eventually turns off after some minutes. Why is the screen going white as opposed to turning on the phone and displaying the charging window? (also the red LED in the IR sensor is lit as well)
I have tried unplugging the cable and pluging it back in but i styll get a white screen.
After a few tries or after leaving the charger in for a bit then unplugging it and plugging it back in again, it then works and goes to the charging screen.
any ideas why this is? Not sure if its a problem or something that they do sometimes if the battery is too dead to turn on.
Also the phone is fairly new, about less than a week.

You shouldn't fully drain a LITIUM ION battery.
It isn't like a nickel cadmium battery.
So you DON'T have to worry about memory effect.
Just charge it every night.
PS: if it doesn't work then either,
then it's because you toch yourself at night.

Actually, you do. You shouldn't fully drain it, but you shouldn't charge it as soon as you get to a power supply... My father did just that with his old laptop, and after a year or two, his battery wouldn't live longer than 5 minutes. I just checked it (on the laptop itself), it had a Li-Ion battery. Proper care of those is to charge when it's almost empty, definitely not entirelly empty, but about 5-10% left.
Although, from what I've heard, Li-Polymer batteries handle this better, and the K800/K790 might have such a battery since the P990 has one.

SE has used Li-Poly for few years. My S700 is Li-Poly and T-630 as well (if I am not mistaken).
Anyway Li batt don't have memory effect but all batt have a lifetime. Li usually has 500-1000 cycle/charge limit before it start loosing the performance. That is why usually batt life is between 1-3 years.
Well I think charging your phone twice a day or just when the batt turn amber (about 20%) will provide long life. My old T610 that is used by my mother is still on its original batt (3+ years now).
Edit: SE said that it is normal to take about 30m before phone indicate charging after you plug it. Anyway check your K790 EROM. With older than R3A016 you will never want the batt to completely drain. It can cause WSOD.
