im owning a W800 right now and and im planning on upgrading it and i am considering a 950. well i know i will miss the camera part but its ok coz i got myself a lumix digi cam.then the storage capacity.well 4gb is good for me.so apart from the storage capacity do you think 950 is a better choice than zen/ipod.i mean is the bundled ear phones, video playback & audio quality better on the 950? thankyou

Well it depends what you really want, something just pure music or a phone that can hold a reasonable amount of music. Personally, i would have the iPod.

I would say yes, definitely. I've had an iRiver 10gig hard drive for the last 5 years and it's on it's last legs. I can't afford a replacement (although if I did get one, it would without a doubt be the Creative Zen Vision M, which I bought for a friend who asked me to chose something for her).

Anyway, I bought the 950i thinking that it would just be a temporary substitute until I could afford a new device, but now I just want to stick with it because:

1) Sound quality is great (though not quite as good as my iRiver)
2) Video quality is great (I've been watching many many Scrubs episodes on it, though haven't tried films yet)
3) It means I don't have to carry another bulky device around with me, which is particularly useful for going out at night and then being able to watch/listen on the nightbus home
4) It saves me £200

A main drawback is the storage capacity - fixed at 4gigs - but it transfers files so quickly that having to change music every fortnight is no hassle at all. Also, battery drains faster than an iPod/Zen probably would, but I find that after a couple of weeks 'warming up' the battery, I could easily: watch a few Scrubs episodes, listen to a few albums, and talk on the phone and there would still be some battery left after two days.

Amazing. To top it off, bluetooth headphones eliminate the need for wires, though I'm having a few issues watching programmes using the bluetooth headset. Also, you don't have to worry about not being able to hear your phone ringing as the music will automatically stop. And personally I see no point in getting a camera on a phone until the quality can match that of normal cameras (with optical zoom etc).

It's going to get even better when newer models have improved storage capacity.

on mobile-review or newmobile there was a test between w950, n91 and ipod video. to be brief, they said the w950 was the best

i just sold my p990, so im looking into w950 as well.

Using my Sennheiser phones the quality is definitely better on the iRiver, though the iRiver seems to be better than most for sound quality anyway. Sennheiser headphones on the w950i makes it sound better than the standard in ear headphones on the w950i.

No idea about bundled Zen phones, nor price of w950 as I got mine free on a contract deal with O2 in the UK.

Fairly sure it's USB 2 and I think UTMS as well, but google and I'm sure you can confirm that.

There are a couple of issues with it crashing occasionally and the odd bug but bugs are standard with most phones and hopefully the firmware updates will fix that.
