Try the following:
1. Open Menu > Tools > Time
2. Click the top (menu) > 'Change time and date' (might be worded different, the top item anyway)
3. Again, click the top and select the top item ('Setup updates' or something)
4. Select 'Ask me' in the first box and check the checkbox below it.
5. Save

This will make your phone accept time settings from the network, which my old Z600 did sometimes, but mostly only when it was very much out of sync. Don't know if it helps, but it's worth a try.

Hi ya

I was going to mention this myself but seems like the 990i has graver problems. Both examples of mine have been equally slow!

incidently, I must be a rarity as my p990i has been fine apart from the time problem.

Runs all programs fine and I havent needed to update the FW either. And it has the rubbish orange software ewgh !
