here we go again

P910 only supports up to 2gb because it uses the fat16 file system and 2gb is the limit of that

P990 supports 4gb (I had this in mine) and more...

Your friend was wrong because I still have my old P910, which is in its box now, and I was using it with a 1gb card. FYI 1gb is the max according the manual (I took it out the box to verify).

Even if the device may support more than 1gb, I will not take that risk.

the P910 white paper (pdf) clearly states what I have said and that 2gb is the limit for fat16

this white paper was written when only 1gb was available but many members here (me nicluded) have used 2gb on P910 without issue

Masseur how's the speed with a 4gb card in the P990 ?
I'm still using my 1gb from my old P910 but would like to upgrade to a 4gb... this to avoid to carry multiple cards with me (for TomTom, movies, etc.).
I remember when I went from my old 256kb to the 1gb in my P910, it became a bit slower to open files and programs.

I'm not the best person to answer that question as I only used mine for music and some low bit rate movies.

Also I only ever used a 4gb card in my P990 so hadn't nothing to compare with

The p910 can only take 2gigs even though some sites are saying it can take 4gigs.I bought a 4gig for it and found it did`nt work.I sent it back and emailed the company who sold it to me and they said we tested it on a p910 and found it to work. When i told them it did`nt work in mine, they told me to upgrade to the latest firmware version. When i replyed and told them i had the latest fimware vesion, they stopped replying to my emails.
