OK,
Thanks in advance.
here is the deal. ive had my sony ericsson w810i for about a month now. everything about the phone has been kickass... but recently i noticed it had stopped saving my "call" info. (recieved, missed, dialed.) everything else in the phone seems fine. when i first got my phone this feature worked. i have master reset the phone..well actually "reset settings" still no fix. should i "reset device"?
i also have been thinking about flashing the phone and getting new firmware... cause it is a corpratewhore cingular branded phone.
i figured that would fix my problem... but im still kind of skiddish about
that...never done it. how much of a risk is it?
thanks,
johndeadver
btw.
cant find my firmware version.
would it be hidden because its branded?

So, would you like to tell us what the fix was?
It also might help if you went to the correct website..

well,
all i had to do was...
calls>more>delete all.
i had to do it twice to get it to work.
doesnt make sense to me, but it worked.

I guess I misunderstood your initial question. I saw it as "all call data was lost". This has happened to me a couple of times. My phone makes a strange chime noise all by itself, the phone flashes white a few times and when it restarts all my call history is gone.
I actually had to reflash my phone (with Wotanserver) because it wiped out all of my apps and games too!
I thought maybe you were having the same problem.

how easy was it to flash?
have you had any problems with it since you flashed it?

It was a piece of cake to flash. I've done it twice. Once with DaVinci (to change the region) because when I bought my phone it had firmware from Singapore or something. Then something happened to my phone and it trashed my apps and everything. I have no idea to this day what caused it.
My phone was just sitting there (no bluetooth turned on or anything) and it made this chiming sound (the same one that you hear when you download a file to the phone over bluetooth) and I picked up the phone to see what it was (maybe a text message or something?) and had the flashing white screen. When it finished the phone had wiped my call history, erased ALL of my games, all of my apps, ringtones and couldn't connect to the internet anymore. So I flashed it again using Wotanserver.
I thought Wotanserver was easier and more straight forward, and it was a little cheaper. The only downside was, it took a few (5) days to process the PayPal payment (use a credit card and NOT a direct PayPal payment) and their customer service was slow to reply to inquiries. But they had the newer firmware whereas DaVinci did not.
Since then I haven't had as many problems but the phone still acts strange sometimes. Not nearly as bad or as often as before though. I've had this phone since August and it's been pretty decent although I really wish the K800 was quad-band and took the same MS ProDuo cards. I am NOT buying another proprietary format from Sony. My PSP takes the same cards so as of now I am FINISHED buying these things, I have too many already.
Good luck to you, it should go fine.
p.s. Now instead of just turning off the phone every few days, I actually turn it off AND pull the battery for a few minutes, maybe this will help a little.
