Do firmware check on phone >*
EROM can be viewed as phone BIOS. Older EROM (newest in k800 is R3A016) can cause phone death in certain condition.
You should do search on this and there is plenty of explanation about this.

Well actually he post there first. The reason I didn't answer then is that he will get plenty info if he browse older post in that thread.
So the information has come full circle

I agree with Sir-SonyEricsson-man, he needs definition.
What's EROM and CID stands for? What's the definition? What's the purpose? How to? etc.
Is that so difficult? Come on, some people here must know about that.
Please... cuz I wanna know it too.

CID is the laguage pack of the phone. It determines what languages are supported by the handset. So if you go for a Europe 1 CID, then you get the likes of French, Spanish, German, Italian etc. With Euorpes 2 it is eastern block languages like Russian, Slovakian, Czech, Ukranian, Romanian etc.
That is what the CID is. To Check Software/Firmware:
How to check the firmware / Software version in Sony ericsson?
1. Take out the sim card.
2. Turn on the phone
3. Press > * 4. Go to the "Service Info"
5. Then go to the Software Info
6. Read the top line. It should give you the firmware version like Eg. R2AY004
EROM
Stands for Extended Read Only Memory, it is where a lot of the firmare/software files are kept, it is what is designated with the R2.... or R3... or whatever version it is prefix.
This detemines the age of the firmware, updates have different prefixes.

Is it really true that CID is related to language pack? Isn't CDA related to it, not CID? Correct me if it's my mistake. CID is a matter of security. Too many people out there cracked SE firmware lately, in which they can change, remove and replace any undesired files. SE surely hates it, right? Although in some cases this modification helps us a lot.
