I realise that Apple TV was announced last time around, but as it's now soon available, I was wondering if anyone was planning to get it. At £199 in the UK it seems reasonable to me. I was going to order it tonight, but as it won't ship til February, I thought I'd wait a bit.

However nice it may be, to be able to stream my iTunes music library to my large screen, I'm not yet convinced. If we (in the UK) had the same download options as in the US (i.e. films and tv shows via iTunes) I might think it a good idea. Am I right in assuming that film & tv via iTunes is coming this year to the UK? (think I read that somewhere).

Additionally, why do apple reccomend that you have: " Enhanced-definition or high-definition widescreen TVs capable of 1080i 60/50Hz, 720p 60/50Hz, 576p 50Hz (PAL format) and 480p 60Hz"? Are films and tv shows distributed at a higher resolution than music videos? When I watched a music video downloaded from iTunes on a "42 screen, it looked really crappy.

EDIT: Forgot to post pic and link:

I won't get one, at least not until I upgrade my 28" Widescreen CRT television.

As you say, this thing requires an 'enhanced' or high definition TV with HDMI or Component inputs. My TV only has SCART, S-Video or Composite Video inputs.

Also, its not clear whether it will stream DivX movies. I guess it will with a DivX QuickTime codec installed...

Interesting concept though...
