A trivial question,

How many characters are there in a one page text?

I was under the impression that there is 160 characters in a one page text on all mobile phones. Can you think of any handsets that have 180?

the SMS standard is limited to 160 characters per message. mobiles that support more simply break the message up into separate messages of 160 characters each

if you are using a language with non english characters you will get less than 160 characters

Thanks masseur,

Just I had a reply from O2 trying to telling me 180 is how many there is in a 1 page text. I always thought it was 160.

This question is to do with my "It's official O2 are crap" post in UMTS / 3G forum.

no worries... here is a page from gsmworld that confirms this and don't forget, if you write texts longer than 160 characters and they are split and sent you will be paying separately for each of those messages

edit: and here is the wiki page also confirming this 160 characters and it also describes better than I did under what circumstances you will get less than 160 characters
