Hello
My K750i (O2 branded) seems to have a problem with the earpiece. I cannot hear people that call me or people that I call through the earpiece. However I can hear them if I switch to speakerphone or use the headset supplied. The phone rings ok when someone calls me (through the loudspeaker). MP3s etc play fine through the loudspeaker. Incoming text messages are heard ok also.

The phone was absolutely fine until I took it to a local shop to have the joystick cleaned/repaired (it was getting unresponsive). Since it came back the earpiece is dead.

Could repairing the joystick have damaged the earpiece or have dislodged something? How easy is it to open up the phone and take a look?

I have seen these on ebay

Are these the correct earpieces and how easy would it be to fit one?

Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

Thankyou
Neil

but why dont you send it where it was "fixed"? they might solve it. they damaged it, they'd solve it! it is probably disconnected from the board....

Yes I am absolutely going to take it back after the weekend! But I am just doing some research before the arguments that "it must have been like that when you gave it to us" sort of thing.

I have tried searching Google and this site for info but could not really find anything relevant. How is the earpiece connected to the board? Wires/plug/contacts ....

Have you checked whether people you call can hear you when using the headset mic.?

If they can, the fault lies within the headset and not the phone.

Thanks

Yes, people can hear me whatever method I use. I simply cannot hear them through the built in earpiece (but is ok through headset/earphones). When taking/making a call I can get to hear the other person if I switch to speaker phone, so obviously the built in speaker is working, just not the earpiece.
