Why SonyEricsson did not announced about the new firmware (R9) for the P990i???

They never announce firmware updates. It's for them to know and for you to find out - by running SEUS.

It's business... By announcing a new firmware, they will only reveal that they actually made mistakes...

on the other hand, its bad business as people who don't use forums like this will probably live with the original firmware they got with the phone and thus complain about its problems which may then put them off SE for their next purchase

I really think its better to advertise when the product has been improved... virtually all software companies do that!

Agree with masseur on this one. At least most if not all owners of the phone will know that their issues of concern are being addressed.

IMO, this is not exactly right. I mean, for any other product u still need to go to a web page, type ur model # etc, or let some app recognize if u need to udpate. Even in Windows, u need to go to a Web page. While I agree, other companies tell you what has been addressed with that release, I do not agree that somehow one should expect some sort of email or letter telling them a new FW is out...

I kind of agree with both points on this.

I think it is SE's responsibility to their customers to make it more widely known that there is a new firmware upgrade out, however mass mailing texting or whatever is not an option.

It would however be nice if it was advertised reasonably clearly on the P990 or appropriate phone section of their site, that way anytime you are looking at the site you can see if there is an upgrade.

The issue with this is that it is always going to be region specific, and therefore they can't be bothered, and to be honest they really don't care if you update your phone or not.

I agree Tail...most of us even registered the phone with SE by sms, so it would be easy for them to alert us

Is there not an option on the P990i that instructs your phone to automatically check for newer fw versions? I know this option exists on the W900i.
