As per the title, the UK's Carphone Warehouse has dropped the price of the

Z710i, now selling for £99.95 (approx R1400) on PAYG when bought with £10 airtime:

Phones from Carphone Warehouse are sim free anyway, so have no network branding and are unlocked

are you 100% sure about that? if thats the case then i will be getting one no doubt but why are they selling it on o2 network why not just sell it without a sim if the phones are unlocked&unbranded?

I think the networks help to subsidise the phones, thus it is cheaper than buying the phone sim-free from them, even though in reality, if you buy on PAYG, you thus get the phone (together with the sim) much cheaper!
I spoke to the East Ham CPW manager last week and assured me that their current batch of Z710i's that they have in stock are unlocked and unbranded.
@ scottt,
Although many of their PAYG phones are unlocked and unbranded, not all of them are. For example 3's PAYG phones that they stock still have all their crap restrictions, as well as a few other network-locked models. Some esato members that work for CPW may be able to shed more light as to which these are; or check with a CPW sales assistant prior to purchasing a specific handset.
EDIT: Argos now have the metallic sand Z710i with 'matching Bluetooth headset' included for £129.99, on O2 (these will be network-locked):
