I'm after a laptop for a mate. He knows nothing about pc's and all he's asked is that he can view his photos from his digicam and book holidays online. It seems he really doesn't need much spec wise, just a decent priced low spec lappy....

Anyone seen any good deals lately!? Gonna order tomorrow hopefully?

I was going to suggest dell too, and if you watch hotukdeals they will tell you when there are deals like this where you get a basic laptop for around £300

this ones a load better than teh basic dell mate... worth the extra and i know soemone whos bought one of these and theyre happy with it

http://www.shopacer.co.uk/pp/[....]0_Series/Aspire_5051AWXMi.html - thats a £390 ish price

then you got for ebuyer:

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119776/rb/24522658287 - £399

and not a bad lil one for £494 - http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/121052

or if you want a intel core duo then this one for about £399
http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/T[....]00YEN_LSB-accessories-2-n2.htm

basically i wouldnt worry about teh size of teh hdd (can alway get a cheap external one to bump up your room..... you dont want any less than 512 of ram... ideally one gig at least (but 512 is fine).... also something to note, with acer shop you can upgrade the memory for quite cheap and if your good on teh phone you 'could' get a free upgrade by blagging (and it has been done)....

personally id go for the acer or the core duo model......

the dell laptop is the cheapest but its teh cheapest for a reason (and i have had bad experience with dell) - in that its hard to fix any of their pc's yourself... teh build tehm in such a way its almost un-misable to not send it back to them to fix (again costing you money) [if outside of warrenty]

anyone, enough bumth there for you to get your teeth into
