hi ,
in my p990i when i enable the cell information and area inforamation i get the option to activate channel 50. when i do that i get messages from somewhere asking me whether i want to store some information.
form what i have made out it is something to do with the place i am at any moment...
can any one tell me more about this and the purpose behind saving these messages

well im not really sure abt this......
i guess when you activate one of them you get the name of the location(city/street name)under the operators name on the stand by menu....

yes i do know that but i do get messages about the area.. it asks me to save.. what is the use of saving these messages

As far as I understand it, it is local information like weather, travel reports, that kind of thing based on your current cell location so it can deliver localised information to where you are now.
Though I don't know if this cost money or not, and I imagine it asks you to save them so they can be read at a later date or straightaway.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, as these services aren't supported in the UK. If you have your phone manual handy (or download one online) it should describe the cell information function in there.
