Mobile phone network 3 has abolished roaming charges for its UK customers in seven nations including Italy, Australia and the Republic of Ireland.
finally a reason to buy a 3 phone perhaps?

3 austria had that offer too, but only for summer holidays last summer, for 3 mothes as i recall

Australia
Denmark
Hong Kong
Ireland
Italy
Austria
Sweden
Uk
because these are the countries that 3 have their own network in

It might not be worth to switch just yet but if going to any of those countries it will be worth getting a pay as you go sim card.

does that affect IDD calls to them?
ie.
i've got a ex that lives in ireland that i call a lot an it costs me an arm and a leg..
is that scrapped too?

I think roaming costs are pointless. Why should I go to France then pay extra money to SFR to use their network. If I was charged my networks or the selected foreign networks prices, it would be so much cheaper.
