well, apart from wifi of course!...
what I miss is a button to take me straight into messaging.
There is a button there to get straight into the internet application, which I use alot, but this is a messaging phone and I still have to go through the menus or task manager to get to my messages!
sure, if I happen to be on the standby screen its a one click operation, but if I am in any other app...
what also gets me about this is that in control panel you can change the shortcut button from internet to:-
Main menu
Media player
Sound recorder
Standby
Task manager
but not messaging! how strange!

if you mean the icon on the standby screen, thats what I said... its fine if you happen to be on that screen, but in any other application... you have to go through the task manager or press the return button to the standby screen and then click the icon.
I know its not much for what is supposed to be a messaging phone I'm surprised there isn't a specific button.
certainly my TyTN has a separate button for each of messaing, internet, contacts and calendar

I sympathise, Masseur! An in-application icon bar, like the old P-series, would be vastly useful!
As for the Internet button's (lack of) configurations.....

Could you not leave a message as unread so that the message icon stays in the taskbar? That would be one touch access in apps that aren't full screen.
I don't understand why its taking so long to develop a button mapping app on UIQ3, even with symbian signing.

interesting thought but then how do I know if I really have messages that I haven't read?
workarounds are good but somethign ilke this should be there from the start

Yep, definitely should be there from the start. Doesn't the M600 have a popup when a new message arrives.

I know what you mean. When you check for a message you wanna know straight away if you have one without any 'might be' or 'could be one inside' and if you do, then you wanna access it instantly.
I gave my p990 back and got myself a TyTN and the messaging button is heaven sent. Especially, the built in app to customise the other main buttons to any app.

Interesting thread. I hadn't considered the impact that lack on hardware buttons would have on usability when I purchased my m600 (it hasn't arrived yet).
