It's my gf's P990i that I'm looking at now. It's brand new.
Doesn't have any extra software installed. has the standard 64 Mb memory card. When trying to open a 260 Kb Word document it says out of memory. There are not a lot of other applications running (checked Swiss Manager).
Now, it should be possible to handle such a fairly small file, should it not?

opening most softwares causes "not enought memory" with the P990, unfortunately, only way is to close down other apps, swiss mgr is very useful

are you sure your girlfriend's p990 has the latest firmware? that used to happen with the R7 firmware. with the R9 that doesen't happen any more.

Try a service center to upgrade and get the latest FW. That should be fairly easy in Sweden.

not true with r7, even less with r9 firmware. dont you get tired of saying nonsense? i open big office docs all the time, even with quickoffice, but documents to go lets you open even bigger docs

I can't open .doc files over 20k with the built in word app.
It's crappy really...

Sorry, but that is a problem of your P990, its not common...
Advice: manual backup + format internal drive via service menu + reflash

With my previous P910 I couldn't open office files larger than 1mb (even smaller one), or if I succeeded it was a real suffering (special patience required). With my P990 I normaly open office files larger than 1mb. Right now, in the middle of this sentence, I opened 1.4mb word document for the sake of testing (opera and a few other applications running in the background). And I have r7 fw.

i had the same issues with quick office on my p910,its pish. to get decent office features ( like they claim you have LOL ) you will need to spend a few dollars on another application.
