> ibook 500 - worth £212
Bookmark topic
hey all,
I've not been around for a while -- but i'm back! wanted to know what mac users (and non-mac users aswell) thought of this purchase I'm probably going to make:
right, I've been offered an ibook delivered etc everything (including postal order fees and delivery and everything including vat) for £212. It's an iBook 500 refurb - short lease, they have about 75 of them left.
The spec is:
-CDROM or better
-500mhz g3
-128mb ram
-os 9.22 (argh! i wanted os x for my switch really...but oh well...)
-airport ready (with airport card present)
-15gb hard drive
-a/c adapter and battery that lasts a min. of 1.5-2hours
all other items that are normally included i don't know about.
could anyone advise me on this? am i being overcharged? -
http://www.2ndchancepc.co.uk/ibook.html is £249 + VAT + shipping and i also have no way of paying them
need to check a few details to make sure that they're infact the spec that they're telling me, but otherwise - should i go along with this purchase?
thanks guys,
-|- awave
EDIT:- oh, btw i have been looking for a wireless laptop with decent battery for under 200...this much over i think i can stretch to though

heh - have wanted to change over to the mac way of things for a while...and as my bank balance and this price agree i may do it...infact i'll almost certainly do it. doesn't sound that bad at the moment to me anyway
right - to stay on the legal side, are there any free office suites for mac classic os? otherwise would it be a bright idea to run xubuntu on a machine like this?
