> Naming MP3 file for K800 players

Hi all sorry if this is on the wrong folder. I have search this problem but could find it. Here goes:
I change the filename of mp3 to the song name and transfer it to K800 using file transfer mode to a folder in music in M2 card. However K800 players still show Track01, Track02, etc and I can't see the song name. How can I make K800 players to use the file name instead of the standard Track01 etc.
Thanks all.

Music files can have extra details stored against them, such as song name, album, artist, release date ect. Your music player will be looking at these instead of the filename. I think these are called ID3 tags. These can be updated using various music apps, but you can also change these by just using Explorer in Windows XP. From what I recall, you right click against the file, select properties and then advanced (something like that!), then enter the details. You can also update multiple files if you want to set them all to the same album. Be careful here, don't try and update track specific fields!!

OK thanks. Will do that. So I just leave the file name as Track## instead and put the song name on this property tag?
One more thing. What is the best way to organised the song inside phone? Do I need to create folder for each Album. Can we choose to play by the album so that K800 plays all song in that album from track01 to the end?

It's still useful to have the filename match the song title as this is what you'll see when using the file manager. Once you've got the msic details set, the music player in the K800 will automatically organize them by artist then album or by song name. You can also create you own playlist. You can palce them in their own folder which will make them easier to organise with the file manager

oh this is madness, I have several gigs of music on my computer, all set up in directories and filenames, but no ID3 tags.
It is relatively straightforward to put the artist and album names in for a whole group of MP3s, but the K800 orders the tracks by the ID3 track number, and if there is no track number, then it orders it seemingly randomly, with no way to reorder.
Does anybody know of a easy-to-use utility for transferring track numbers from file names to ID3 tags for lots of MP3s at once?
I much preferred the old system of Artist > Album > Filename. It is a shame that that is not an option on my new K800...
thanks.
