I am about to give up! After having tried using both MediaCoder and dbPowerAmp to create aac+ files that will work in the W850i, I thought I would ask for advice here.

What settings do I need to use for the files to work ?

In MediaCoder for instance I use the CT AAC+ module, and set bitrate to 64, type = LC-AAC and choose MPEG-4 AAC. Files work fine on the PC, but once transferred to the W850i, they can't be played and are viewed as empty!

Any help in this would be highly appreciated. And as mentioned either MediaCoder or dbPowerAmp help would be great.

Great, I may try that. I just didn't think these phones would accept HE-AAC...

You may try the 3GPP ACC+ tab in MediaCoder with the default bitrate value of 48. Don't forget that sadly there is no album art option for files other than mp3.

It works on my W850. Occasionally only the first track in the row does not get encoded properly, so try the output files on the computer before transferring them on the phone.

Cheers

I'm glad it worked for you too. Enjoy the additional space for music / photos or videos.

Cheers!

Make sure the output format in aac+ is .m4a not .mp4.
.mp4 wont readable in walkman mode, but will play normally in folder.
.m4a may solve it.
i'm using Easy CD-DA Extractor. the easiest apps to convert any aac/aac+
