I'm asking this for someone but also would like to find out a little more myself.
Basically after updating the RSS news feed on the K610i handset the phone freezed so then she took out the battery to effectively reboot the handset but after putting the battery back in the phone will not start. She thought the battery may need charging so charged the phone. Apparently the battery indicator does'nt show and still will not switch on.
This to me sounds like the handset is still in a crashed state, I understand the light on top of the phone flashed three times on trying to switch the phone on. Do you think if this phone was updated it would be ok? I understand the handset has never been updated so it must have an old firmware version on it. Would anyone be aware of this issue being in a K610i firmware?
A little tricky this one is as O2 contract which she is on never supplied the DCU-60 data cable in the box but obviously could use mine. Just really wondering does this sound like a service centre job to you or if it might be possible to fix it?

I think you can fix it but why bother if it's still under warranty. She might even get a new phone.

Yeah it's under warranty still obviously as it's only a few months old. Just really trying to figure out what would be the best course of action to take.
Can you not update the EROM through the Sony Ericsson update service then? and would this be something only a Sony Ericsson service centre could do?
The annoying thing is that O2 appear to have sent her the phone without the data cable in the box and the box was sealed. I never knew O2 take things out with contract phones.
The actual fault is a firmware issue hay? I think so. It would'nt be the battery, I've never heard of the battery dying in a newish Sony Ericsson.

i dont think itll fix up with seus...try to start it in flash mode i guess and if the computer detects it flash with seus n it shud fix up. if that doesnt work get it fixed under warranty coz using wotanserver etc etc will void the warranty(if they notice:))

Same thing happened to me.
A 3 month old k610i just died on me, I was taking a picture and the phone freezed.
This was before I know anything about flashing.
I contacted O2 and posted the phone to them, 2 days later I received a brand new phone in the post.
They are very concerned that you have a working phone that you are using.
