Was hoping you could help!
I have successfully installed TomTom on the P990i so all I need now is a bluetooth reciever.
Once I have my eyes on are from Holux, Holox and Solar Powered ones. I was wondering if anyone can recommend any. I preferrably want one form eBay in the regin of £30-£40.
Thanks!

Hi Joshie,
This has been discussed many times before some people like the Holux which has a Sirf111 chip and they say works well with the P990. I personally have used and still use a Holox which has the newer RFMD chip and 32 channels that has a really fast acquisition time for Satellite fixes and actually works indoors so you can fully plan your route prior to getting in the car. Which when it's cold outside is quite useful in my opinion.

Hi Doggman.
Which Holox do you have? The name seems like its a cheap copy of the Holux?

Hi Joshie,
It is the Holox BT-321 if you find it on E-bay which is where i got mine from it actually has a good spec sheet that explains why it is better than most. All i can say is it has a huge battery life and has never failed me in any way and i about the size of a packet of 10 cigarettes and can even be charged in car with a Motorola V3 lighter charger. I really don't recommend anything that i am not happy using myself and satisfied with the performance of.

I also use a £30 Holox BT321 with P990, it's very good & as been said works well indoors or in your pocket when walking,
yes shame the name makes it sound like a cheap copy of the Holux, but it isnt. it's very good in its own right.

i've got an original tomtom SIRF 3 GPS receiver.
only due to the fact that nothing else would work on the N70 etc when tomtom was released.
but that aside i've had no problems whatsoever with the receiver, living close to the country the only down side i notice is, if im drving along a tree lined country road I occasionally loose reception but it does repick it up so its not all bad!

Hi fatreg,
My Holox worked fine with my N70 and i have never experienced signal loss as you describe but then IMO the Holox is a superior unit to the Tom Tom receiver as is able to scan for more satellites and has a better chip than the Sirf111 chip so has no problems. IMO the GPS receiver is the most important component and the weakest link so the better the GPS receiver the better the results will be. It always makes me laugh when people say i was in the shop so we went into the car park to get a fix on the satellites as the Holox actually works indoors so proves it has far better acquisition abilities IMO.

I too have the Holox BT-321 from Ebay...
no complaints whatsoever... very fast to pickup satellites, no drops..
used it on the GNER service to London, where it was funny to see us doing 125mph through open fields !

Holux GPSlim 236 is a really good one, has SIRF 3 chipset, uses standard nokia battery, and charges on mini usb.
You can order it here:
