My cousin has asked me for my opinion in, which phone she shud opt for... An SE P990i or Nokia E61 or for DOPOD C800(HTC Herald) PocketPC.
She's currently usin a Nokia 6670. As i'm a WindowsMobile Smartfon devotee I'd lik to recommend the PocketPC over the Nokia E61.
But as I haven't used a UIQ fon, I can't compare the P990i directly to the PPC. For her 3G and d price difference doesn't matter.
What matters is:
1. availability of apps and gud games
2. performance
3. bundled apps
4. user friendliness
What do u guys recommend?

As you are WM devotee I am a P series one. All I can say is that with the lastest fw and a new version of Swiss manager pro my P990 is rock stable phone. Maybe even newer fw will come that will exclude necessity for sm but at this point the above mentioned combination is fantastic as I have a feeling of a true P serie + all those features that make P990 the very best P series representative.

Point noted...
But I think the DOPOD has a better keyboard and display and a bundled MS Office mobile...
It also have Skype in it. And frm my experience WM software's are easily available and there's a wide variety of them! I think the DOPOD hav better multimedia capabilities than P990i... correct me if i'm wrong

Can't say what is better since it is very subjective but P990's display is absolutely amazing specially when it comes to video experience. The screen is brilliant and picture cristal clear. 350 mb movie starts in a 2-3 sec. and time scrolling goes instantly. That's my experience as I see here that some steal have problems. Also music player is super and what gave me additional joy is quality of speaker while listening mp3 (new fm), much better than 910.
Landscape internet in combination with hi res. screen, wifi and querty and also with downloading capabilities of multimedia files complete my multimedia experience.

Its about browsing net in P990i. I've browsed full html pages usin I-Mate JAMin PPC jus lik i was browsin in my PC. Can i expect the same experience usin the P990i browser. Will it slow down on loadin html pages? Also can i download any files usin the browser...

Yes, you can browse internet as on the PC and any downloading link will ask for actual download whatever file extension be. You can also choose memory card for download place so you are not bound by internal memory. Opening pages via wifi goes very fast. For me wifi is the best feature in the phone. Sincerely I use my PC at least 50 percent less since I bought this phone. Also emails with attachments go fast via wifi.
But I think you should try yourself before make a decision as it seams that some people steal have problems with their phone which is a kind of strange thing.

Hi Ali,
Also if your cousin is in India like you you should be aware that whilst a touch screen can be useful it's ability to be viewed in bright light is not of the same quality as non touchscreen phones. This is not just my opinion either go over to
www.allaboutsymbian.com/ where there is a great article on the weakness of touchscreen phones compared to non touchscreen phones. Also i am not a fan of Opera web browser and for a full HTML browser there is not much that comes close to the Nokia/Safari based browser IMO.

Nice to have you here Dogmann.
About screen and bright light condition I fully agree. If you need your phone mostly outside then better don't buy it. Otherwise it's simply brilliant.
About internet it's a meter of personal choice. For me stylus + jog + querty give me a true PC functionality.
