my question is a quick one regarding
phones that have the joystick like the w800, k750, k800 etc.
eventually after time and use do all the joysticks have problems?
i once had a w800 and the joystick died on me and could hardly function so before i consider buying another phone that has a joystick just wondering if all the phones eventually go this way?
if you own any of the phones then let me know how long you have had it and if you have had any problems and that will let me know if i should get a joystick phone or not as that experience with the w800 put me off them.

I've generally not had a problem with SE joysticks. I've got a K750i, which I've had for a couple of months and not had a problem with it so far, despite buying the phone secondhand (and with a broken screen originally!). Also had a W800i from nearly new for 8 or so months, again no problems at all with the joystick, and have just got a K510i, which has a very responsive joystick, despite being second (actually I suspect third!) hand.
I have had a K750i I replaced a screen on that had a joystick that was hard to operate, and the odd older SE like a K700i or T610 with similar problems.
I think that it depends on how you treat the joystick. If you're careful with it and don't abuse it or use it too harshly you'd get years of reliable service out of it, and perhaps be careful where it's stored/used so as not to get a build up of dust/dirt in the joystick assembly.
I also suspect SE are now doing something about their joysticks, I noticed on the K750i I've got which I replaced the screen on had a rubber cover over the joystick on the mainboard, I suspect to keep the dust out.

I had a K750i and never had any problems with it. I always made sure to keep the joystick surround clean by brushing any dust out with a soft toothbrush.
Was never a heavy user of the joystick anyway for gaming etc.

When I bought my K750i months back . . . the JOYSTICK suddenly went BERSERK . . . the DOWN-direction is NOT functioning at times . . . so with that I will depend in the UP-direction . . . sometimes having a multi-directional navi KEY is - good, as if say, the RIGHT-direction will not function well . . . then you can still depend using the LEFT-direction . . . so goes with the UP and DOWN. Well anyway, I brought the hadset in an autorized
service center . . . and had the joystick - fixed . . . all is well now. At present, I also have a T68i . . . the JOYSTICK still performs EXCELLENTLY up to THIS very day . . considering it's - OLDNESS, no JOYSTICK repair was done yet.

My T68i is now almost 4 years and 8 months old - the joystick works like in the beginning, with no problems. But some usual keys need harder push to react.

I have a T68i and the joystick has never been cleaned or had any maitnence done. The phone has been flung at bus windows (funny story), and dropped down stairs, droped into sand, dropped onto varius surfaces inc cement. The joy stick has had over 1,000,000 (1 million) toggles and still works fine, to this day.

I think it also depends on how much and what you use the joystick for too. I tend not to play the games too much, so the joystick doesn't get too much of a hammering from that, or anything else joystick-intensive.
I have to admit I prefer the joysticks to things like D-pads, much quicker I find when navigating menus, and you can navigate and select in one fluid movement, no moving your thumb to the 'ok' button.

@samboy - Yup, have to AGREE with you there . . . I guess one of the MAIN cause of JOYSTICK mis-alignment is DUE to - excessive GAMING . . .

so i install alot of games onto my phones and play them alot at whatever point in the day i have nothing to do. does that mean i'd be better off without a joystick phone?
gaming+joystick phone= broken or unresponsive joystick?:)

almost all the games let you use the numbers instead of joystick. i try to use the numbers the most i can.
