If I use this and it updates my phone what will it wipe out?
Will I have to input all my settings again? ie ringtones, contacts, E-Mail settings etc. If so can it done via back up?
Also how do I know which firmware version I have at the moment

when you update your fone using seus your ohone will be restored to factory settings you will loose everything on there ( not on your mem card ) you can perform a backup of your fone and then restore it when you have performed the update. as for finding out what firmware you have at the mo, what fone have you got?

When you use the update service, (SEUS) Shouldnt wipe anything out. (Well it hasnt done yet)

It only updates the software that requires the update,

However its always advisable to back up your phone as a precaution.

As SEUS says updating your phone is at your own risk.

I have used SEUS and none of my settings ets have ever been deleted. But i always back up as a matter of course

@HarvJH

Smartphones work very differently using SEUS

Sorry I should have been more clear.

Smart phones normaly get a part fresh build thus settings and items gone,

T, K Series normal get a update of software only and not a fresh build.
The only things that normaly goes are the applications.

I have updated T610, T630, K600 to K800 and have never backed up.

However you can back up your contacts on the k800 to a memory card and same again with your photos, songs etc.

There are also software out there that also backs the phone up if required.

I have only updated a P990 and againi did back everything up on my memory card as i knew every thing would be wiped of.

Hello, I advise you NOT to restore any backedup data(personal experience).but it's safe to restore only CONTACTS.and it is up to you.
