I am trying to update my W950 but i am having some problems with the SEUS.

I start the program, select the region, choose my connection type, turn off my phone remove the sim put the battery back in and hold c. Then i plug in my usb cable and let go of c. The program starts to detect the phone but it always goes back to the beginning.

What can I do to get this working?

p.s I live in the states so I can't take it to my neighborhood SE service center

I have seen several threads with this problem, especially with W950, since the latest update became available but I have yet to see a solution, unfortunately

perhaps the latest seus has an issue with some CDA's so I guess just keep trying every couple of days

I've also uninstalled and reinstalled both Sony Ericsson PC suite for smart phones and the Update Service.

The only thing that looks out of place is when I plug in the powered off phone I am getting an error with the usb. "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it"

I don't get this error when the phone is on and everything works fine.

Can anyone help?

until the latest firmware update, I used to get that all the time with the M600 firmware updates but it never caused the update to fail, so that might just be a red herring which, like the M600, will be resolved with the latest update when you can eventually get it working

this is just a shot in the dark, i dont know a lot about phones however i am a computer engineer and 90% of the time when windows throws up that error it is due to lack of power to the device that is plugged in.

like i say i dont know a lot about phones but i have the p990i and i am able to plug the charger and the usb lead in at the same time, if you can do that it may help.

however if you cant do that, try unplugging all your usb devices so that the root hub has max power available.

hope this helps

I just want to be clear that it isn't giving me and error message or letting me know that it is failing. It is just restarting to the start/exit screen.

I have another question. Is there anyway to keep the phone from turning on when I unplug the usb cable? As of right now I have to let the phone turn on and then turn it off every time I try to get it updated... time consuming and annoying as well.

The phone works brilliantly with the pc when it is turned on. I don't get any error messages, just when it is powered down.

Unplugged my usb mouse and tried it again though.. still nothin
