Hi All,

I'm loving my M600i, but I've got some really annoying issues with syncronisation.

It seems that every number in outlook, when syncing with my M600i, comes through on the M600i as a mobile(w) number. Even if I set it as the personal mobile line, not a business line. This is really frustrating as I know many people with a personal mobile line, and a business mobile line, and then a business (desk phone) number. I can comfortably set this up in the M600i contacts list, but it gets ruined by the sync.

I originally was using Outlook 2007, and SE support blamed that and told me to go back to 2003. After battling with Outlook 2007 for 3 hours, I eventually got it uninstalled, reinstalled Outlook 2003 - only to have the same problem. Thanks a lot SE support.

Also, if I setup a reminder on my M600i, as soon as I sync with my PC, it wipes it out, as there's no such thing as a reminder appointment type in outlook I suppose.

Anybody else had this issues and found a way around it? Driving me insane and I'm sure that it isn't supposed to work this way...

I noticed the issue with the mobile numbers.
I went through each contact on my phone and edited it accordingly.

After you had done that, did you syncronise again and did they all go back to (w) numbers? As when I change a (w) number to a normal number it makes no differences to the contact entry in Outlook despite it showing as a contact updated.

No. Stayed as normal mobile number.

I must question why it syncronises all contacts from Outlook with the (w) prefix though. Considering that editing the M600i contact to remove this (w), it looks like it's only syncronising contacts from Outlook to the M600i that causes it. Even if you 'fix' the contact on the M600i, and sync it back to Outlook to 'correct' the (w), remove the contact from the M600i, and then re-sync from Outlook, it still applies a (w) for no reason... It shouldn't be this way. Obviously something is wrong with PC Suite or the M600i.

I saw this on mine too, I think it just the phone it self, what is the (w) suffix suppose to mean anyway.

The funny thing is that the icons next to the numbers seem ok though, like the home number have the the home number icon etc.

And the stupid part is that if you add a new number you can still select mobile even if there already the mobile number with a (w).

(w) means work and normally you get that added when you transfer numbers from the phone to the sim card... (h) for home etc ec

I have always synced with outlook and never have any contacts on the simcard and I have never seen it do this so I wonder if there is a clue there somewhere?

However, I too never put contacts on my sim card and all my mobile numbers were synched from Outlook and ALL appeared in the "w" category ?

Sadly, since I've owned a mobile phone I've never used a SIM card to store my contacts. I always liked being able to store multiple numbers per contact.

The SIM card I currently use has certainly never had any contacts on it, and the M600i I own has never had a SIM card in it which had contacts on either.

I've had the issue back when my M600i was Orange branded, and also since debranding, so it's not a dodgy operator firmware issue.

I've contacted Sony Ericsson and they've been as helpful as a hole in the head. They told me to uninstall Office 2007 and go back to Office 2003. It took me 3 hours of messing with my registry (hint: Office 2007 is still buggy as hell, and I'm using retail - stay clear) to uninstall it, and Office 2003 still has the same issue for me .

You'd think that each field in outlook, would have a direct correlation in the handset and vice versa when using the Sony Ericsson sync software.

Not sure what to do...

hi all!

I have the same sync problems, something is wrong with PC Suite or the M600i.
As my phone is vodafone spain i thought it was a branding issue, but after reading your post, I see it’s not…
My old phone was a k750i and everything worked fine, all the numbers synchronized fine, but now with m600 they get all mess up…

The worst is that if you sync all your contacts from outlook to m600, and later you add another telephone number to a contact in the m600 as a “mobile” when you sync again, and you won’t see it in outlook…
Do any one knows if the w950 have the same problem?
