Ok I have read all the other threads I could find and I still cant get it to work so bear with me....

I am connecting through GSM (as I don’t have GPRS allowed) on the following settings which work fine for WAP:

Phone number +44786900808
user id = user@voderphone.net
password = user
data type = 28.8 kbits/s
dial type = ISDN
DNS Address = ... (not on)

Ok my email is set up as:

connect using = "above settings"
Protocol = POP3
Inc server = http//pop.hotpop.com
incoming port = 110
Mailbox = "my user name with hotpop"
password = "my password with hotpop"
outgoing server = http//smtp.hotpop.com
outgoing port = 25
email address = "my hotpop address"
download = headers + textcheck intervel = 12 hrs

and yet when trying to check email with the T68i i just get "cannot find server"

Please help.....really bugging me.....I only set up hotpop as it is recommended on a few threads......

Cheers,

Da pimp

Try this:

Phone number +44786900808
user id = user@vodafone.net
password = user
data type = 28.8 kbits/s
dial type = ISDN
DNS Address = ... (not on)

connect using = "above settings"
Protocol = POP3
Inc server = 204.57.55.33 (hotpop incoming server IP address)
incoming port = 110
Mailbox = "my user name with hotpop"
password = "my password with hotpop"
outgoing server = 212.183.156.228 (Vodafone outgoing server IP address)
outgoing port = 25
email address = "my hotpop address"
download = headers + text
check intervel = 12 hrs

Or you'll probably have even better luck with this:

Phone number +44786900808
user id = user@vodafone.net
password = user
data type = 28.8 kbits/s
dial type = ISDN
DNS Address = ... (not on)

connect using = "above settings"
Protocol = POP3
Inc server = 204.57.55.33 (hotpop incoming server IP address)
incoming port = 110
Mailbox = "my user name with hotpop"
password = "my password with hotpop"
outgoing server = 62.213.128.92 (Vizzavi outgoing server IP address)
outgoing port = 25
email address = "my hotpop address"
download = headers + text
check intervel = 12 hrs

I use the T68i email client using hotpop and it works great. I use it through GPRs although you can use it through CSD like you guys are as well. Wroks like a charm. So I can use the email or MMS to send pics now its very cool.

I don't use hotpop. I use my ntlworld E-mail account through orange GPRS, which is why I don't know the reason why dapimp can't send attachments. Do you have any ideas?

HI, I have a T-mobile T68i... How do I set up the email account for hotpop? GSM or GPRS, which one is better? Ive already registered with hotpop but I dont know what to put in the outgoing mail or anything like that.

It should be the same as above, but you'll need to put the T-Mobile outgoing server IP address in the option for Outgoing server. I think it's 193.133.192.24 Not too sure though, try it. Of course you'll need to connect via your T-Mobile data account, and not the account dapimp is using.

GSM is a dial-up service (pay for the phone call).

GPRS is a constant connection service (pay for what you send and receive).

Which account should I use? because for me to be able to send mms I had to create a new profile with a different server. Do I use the T-zones profile that came with the phone or do I use the one I use to connect to wap sites and send mms? I go to inbox to go check and I get a "finding server" for a very long time and then I get "server not found"

I tried with the IP you gave me for T-mobile could that be the problem or that has nothing to do witht he outgoing server?

Use whichever data account you use to connect to WAP services.

I'm not sure if it's the right server address, call T-Mobile and ask them for the IP address of their SMTP server so that you can send mail through it.
