> WLAN doesn't work if SSID is hidden
Bookmark topic
I tried connecting to my wifi network at home and it only connects if the SSID is broadcasted/visible. For security reasons I don't broadcast the SSID and I wouldn't like to have to make it visible so my p990i is able to connect.
Does anyone know if this is supposed to happen?

I get the same here, use the "Search for SSID" (or something, my phone isn't english) feature in the menu and it works. You have to type your SSID everytime you connect, but because of the predictive text, that shouldn't be a problem from the second or third time on...

can you setup a new network, and input all the values, including the SSID.

@Firetech
It won't find the SSID since I don't have it on broadcast. It will say NO AP found.
@scroitoru
Yes I have an account created which holds all the info to connect to my home SSID. When I use Opera, I specifically make it use the account I created. It only works when the SSID is visible

@Totoriko,
I have a hidden SSID WLAN here at home (D-Link G700-AP access point) running with WPA2 (and have entered all its details into a WLAN account on the phone), and using the 'search for SSID' feature (only found in the menu), I can find the network and connect to it. Using the normal scanning procedure (found in the menu and the button in the bottom of the screen) won't find it though.
@amanno1,
It's possible to hide the SSID (the name you see listed in the WLAN app on the phone) of a WLAN, which makes it (almost) impossible to connect to your WLAN if you don't know the SSID.

firetech, I thank you!
It does work with "Find SSID" from the menu but not "Scan"
Sorted.
Cheers
