Two police officers in London are under investigation after one of them was photographed by a passerby on his Camera phone playing a game on a sony PSP while on duty in his squad car.

The Sun newspaper reported that the officer and his partner were supposed to be guarding a wall in danger of collapse in the neighborhood of Chingford in east London. A two-year-old had been crushed by a falling wall in north London during storms that battered Britain last week.

A construction worker who took the photo told the newspaper that the officers were so engrossed in the video game that they weren't paying any attention to keeping people from getting too close to the wall.

A police spokesman told the newspaper, “The use of the games console was inappropriate and unprofessional. Senior officers are dealing with the matter.”

I don't understand the problem? They've potentially been sat there for hours and they're obviously not both looking at it because of the way he's holding it.

If they're taking it in turns to play on it while they wait for the council or whoever to get their finger out who is it hurting? Presumably this area of collapsed wall is taped off anyway?

I think if you speak to any police officers you probably find that most of them have a PSP or portable DVD for the many occassions when they're sat for hours on end waiting for whoever to turn up.

Maybe it was just a moment of weakness,after all he's only human the temptation of reaching for the PSP must have been so great he couldn't help himself.
