Well a .sis file is for the UIQ platform. What phone are you trying to install that file?

.sis is a symbian file type, not a uiq file type
personally I use the nokia pc suites to do installs as there is an option right there to do it all
its possible your .sis is corrupt or for a different symbian version so its worth checking the source of the file to ensure its compatible

As a rule the N73 accepts only sisx. files which are specifically for the Symbian S60 9.1 platform (which you have on your N73).

in "application manager" - settings... Make sure you allow "all" apps. to be installed, and say "no" to certificate check... i have e 61, have installed both .sis and .sisx (incl. Some N73 apps...).
Having said that, some files won't install via wap, but no probs via pc/usb-cable...strangly, occasionally I get ".sisx-not supported" when downloading via wap - same file o.k. via usb! Even stranger, with downloading straight to phone via wap browser some apps won't install when using "vodafone isp" as access point... Only "vodafone live!" will do (e.g. Operamini). Most apps however install o.k. - by the way, I don't believe you can only install .sisx! I've come across plenty of files specifically for n73 in ".sis" - methinks

btw, i went into app. mgr to allow 'installation of app' then set cerfitification 'OFF'. yet i am unable to install the .sis file i have in my inbox which i sent via BT.
i guess i can try to install this .sis file via USB cable with the PC suite manager.
will report back in a while.
