> Power-up without pressing the Power button

Hi,
My first but not last post in Esato forum!
I've got this HW project where I'll use an old Ericsson phone (T28s, R320s or similar) connected through RS-232 to a microcontroller to send automated SMS. I know, there are alot of those SMS Alarms and stuff out there but I want to do it myself.
I've been looking at open projects online for a while and those are ok. There is only one thing missing in all of these projects - the ability to power up the phone!
All phone based project assumes that the phone is powered up when sending the SMS. What I'm looking for is a way to "kick-start" the phone using a signal from my microcontroller.
Anyone that has a solution other than shorting the power button?
Any experiences in this matter would be of great interest!
BR,
Matz

mmmmmm ... don't know about the old Ericssons, but my K750 powers up when conected to the USB port, even if it is off... don't know if that helps much though ...

Those service type cables like "terminator dongle" could do that for T39 and later. But T28 is an older generation still.

I saw a page where some guy shorted the Yes button (power) on a T10 which gave the result that it would start up as soon as it got power. This however doesn't work on the T28 as it seems...
My last resort would be to pulse the button using the PIC.
I'll have to do some more testing on the phone to find out if there are any other possible solutions.
