Iv been using a BB Pearl for a couple of weeks now, it uses a "Pearl" instead of a joystick.
SE should try something like this I think!

Hi, well the scrolling pearl of the blackberry is significantly larger than SE's joystick. I think its a good idea though, but prefer the d-pad solution in SE phones.

i also prefered the k610 olution instead of the joy. k8 is also disappointing imo.

The joystick on my T610 broke. It made me sad
I've seen people selling them on ebay for about £3. I wonder if they are easy to replace.

Same here. I'm concerned with the longevity of the joystick on my SE K790.
I guess they got it right with the iphone. No clicking parts just touch screen.

I must admit the K800i joystick design inside the phone does seem like it will last longer than previous models but after using my Z710i for a week it just reaffirms my view on joysticks for phones! BAD IDEA!
I'd rather have a jog-wheel before a joystick! D-Pad FTW!

Its about the same size.
The only problem I have with the joystick is that it needs to be managed and kept clean, then you wont have any problems, like myself.
But since everyone has problems with it, how about something fresh like a roller ball cursor???
Just not as sensitive as the Pearl but along those lines??
