You have just bought the phone. Give it a week or two to see if it gets any better first. Charge it a couple of times

set backlight on low level, turn off "always on" gprs, turn off the clock. imo if 3g is on, that doesnt influence the standby time

there isn't a standby clock on M600 so it cannot be turned off!
also, there isnt the concept of gprs "always on" or "always off" in these phones, you can only choose GSM, 3G or GSM and 3G
also, there is much anecdotal evidence posted here that turning 3g makes quite a difference and that is backed up by SE's only data on the product pages.
edit: there is supposed to be a higher capacity battery BST-34 available in some places and a BST-40 (if I remember correctly) coming soon too

lol, oh yeah, I forgot about that very deeply buried seting for in internet settings where you can choose preferred mode of auto, or PS only or CS only
and I suppose, thinking laterally, if you switch to 3g only you won't get gprs!

The 'GPRS off' feature doesn't affect the battery much, maybe a couple of minutes, tops. I've talked to people that knows how GPRS works, and they can confirm that it shouldn't affect the battery at all...
