I've just recieved my new K800i and have a few questions before I start to enjoy it!...
How long should the first charge be!? I know older fones used to require 12-14 hours but is that still the case?! I didnt think it was anymore but I want to be sure!
Secondly, I'm planning to flash/rebrand it as it is provided by Orange. Being brand new, i.e. no contacts, not fotos etc is there anything else I need to backup before attempting to flash the fone?!
And finally (at last!!), I've read many posts on rebranding already (although still feel anxious about doing it!), and would like to know what version of the firmware I should install (i am a UK user), and how i go about replacing settings such as mms etc once the flashing is complete.

The recommended first charge is usually 8 hours but I charge it until the battery meter is full then unplug the charger and plug it in again and it usually charges the last bit that it seems to miss on a first charge.
As the phone is brand new you don't need to back up anything. I'd definately choose Wotan to flash it and the firmware I'd suggest is R1JC002 with the Europe 2 CDA. It's really very painless. As with anything that invloves writing new firmware to a device there are potential risks using services like this but I've flashed 100's of phones using various flash tools and never had a problem. As long as you follow the instructions you'll be fine.
Getting the settings for GPRS and MMS is very simple thanks to
Sony Ericsson's website. They will send you the settings.

I'd download the client, install the USB driver and make sure that works, then purchase your credits. That way if you run into problems or you change your mind you don't have to go back to Wotan asking for a refund.
