I've just upgraded from R1GB001 to R1JC002 via wotan and this is what I've found so far:
navigation does seem a little quicker
in the videos folder i did have a few freezes from time to time, now it works fine
looking in the service menu, the java is 7.3 (7.2 previously) and text revision is AQ (AH previously)
In the Update Service menu the firmware is dated 070122 so is pretty new!

If you've got bugs in r1ed firmware and/or the newer firmwares improvements/changes are of benefit to you then i'd personally say yes.
