HELP!!! I 've spent the last three days trying desperately to get an email account set up on my T68i. I have registered with Freeserve as I was advised they were the best. Can anyone help with settings or an email account that will give me better results. All I keep getting is "failed-cannot connect to server".
I am DESPERATE!!!
Cheers!

For Freeserve E-mail on O2 you should have these settings:
Connect using> (the data account you use to connect to WAP)
Protocol> POP3
Inc. server> 195.92.193.154
Incoming port> 110
Mailbox> (your Freeserve user name)
Password> (your Freeserve password)
Outgoing server> 193.113.160.13
Outgoing port> 25
E-mail address> (your Freeserve E-mail address)
Download> Headers+text
The other options are up to you.
I hope this helps.

I've got all those settings and my WAP data account is set up as GSM.
Does that matter? I can access the web but my provider says I haven't got Data or fax set up yet-is this my problem???

If you can connect to WAP with your GSM dial-up I would've thought that you already had data set-up on your phone. You can try that I suppose.
Are you sure you have the right server IP addresses inserted, the incoming one is for Freeserve and the outgoing one needs to be for O2, to get around the SMTP authentication issue.
Also, if you have an actual account with Freeserve as your ISP, you can set-up a new data acount in your phone that dials the same Freeserve dial-up number your PC would use to connect to the net, and uses the same user name and password. You can set-up new data accounts in the Connect menu under Data comm. If you can do that, just get the E-mail client to connect using that data account instaed of your GSM dial-up.

Do you knwo what the APN is for o2. That seems to be the new stumbling block. If you could give me the full Data account settings for GPRS I'd be eternally greatful!

Info on O2 Website:
http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/mobileinternet/setupwap/
GPRS Settings
APN wap.o2.co.uk
Default url http://wap.o2.co.uk
Port 9201
Security off
IP Address 193.113.200.195
Linger time 120 seconds
Username o2wap
Password password
You could always ask advice from people like,
marknicholls or
gadgetboytom. I'm pretty sure they use GPRS on O2.

O2 email settings & receiving/sending emails with picture attachments
If you are with O2 in the Netherlands and if you have opened a user account on the WEB site (o2.nl) and you have your GPRS settings, then email setup is very easy.
I.e. in the option menu of the email menu you select an account (you have created via the data communication menu and you edit it):
1) Connect via: O2 GPRS (this one you get by having the GPRS settings sent to your phone. Do this via o2.nl at the services page)
2) Protocol: POP3
3) Incoming server: pop3.o2.nl
4) port: 110
5) Mailbox: @o2.nl
6) password:
7) outgoing server: smtp.o2.nl

outgoing port: 25
9) email address: same as mailbox (see item 5)
10) ... As you wish.
It works fine in my case. I can send & receive email. I can send email with attachments (i.e. pictures only on the T68i).
I CANNOT: read email attachments on my phone. Allthough I know my phone has received an email with a picture attached, the T68i does not show it.
This is strange, because MMS messages use a similar atachment technique. In this case however, the phone shows the pictures when
receiving th emessage.
Price difference for 3 pictures:
MMS: 3 pictures = 0.45 Euros
email (sending only) 3 pictures (total 10 kB)
IF ANYONE knows how to get the phone show attached pictures in email, please let me know.
I CANNOT: add some other attachment, e.g. a sound when creating an email on my phone.

The Mailbox / pasword entries of my previous posting got mangled.
These should be:
5) Maibox:
your-user-name-at-o2@o2.nl (this is actually your email address for O2 webmail at the O2.nl site)
6) your-password-at-o2 (this is your access to your email, agenda, MMS and free SMS services on the Dutch O2 web site).
