strange question this one. i got my w950i from vodafone uk a couple of days ago. on virst impressions i thought it was branded, it starts up with the vodafone splash intro and the menus seem a little slow. however the menus themselves seem to have no branding on them ie, i tink they have the original icons ect. below are two pics of the menus, can anyone tell me if this is a branded handset or not?? thanks

Same with my P990i, it has voda startup but nothing else voda related, i would class it as minimal branding!

If you've got the voda start up then it's a branded phone.

Same as my voda 950, startup screen appears to be only branding.

so in which case there would be little to no point getting this unbranded?? it just seems the menus are a little slow, but maybe this is just how the phone is?

suppose the only thing would be that i would be able to update the firmware easier in the future. does the new firmware make a noticble difference?? if so then i may think about getting it unbranded.

minimum branding...yes, but still its branding, especially considering that they assign their own CDA against the device and you cannot upgrade to the latest generic FW which was released back in January.

Don't get me wrong, a startup/shutdown is nothing compared to the Orange braded ones, but still the main drawback is that you would have to wait for Vodafone to release the FW themselves, which is not going to happen any time soon

The vodafone branding is nowhere near as bad as the orange branding - which is strange cos it used to be the other way round - voda must have learn't its lesson!

in regards to unbranding - it really is down to you. If you don't mind the startup pic then the only reason would be future firmware updates.

in my experience with my old O2 branded p910i, firmware updates were about 4-8 weeks behind the unbranded firmware - so if your not experiencing any bugs your probably ok with what you've got!

but it is always nice to have the phone how it was mean't to be!

If you get it from a provider it is branded. Some do only minimal branding which is good. Yours is branded even if it only has a short voda splash screen on bootup.
