no, none of the phones have powerful enough IR

the SE symbian phones dont have profiles
there is a 3rd party software called magic profiles which was around for earlier P series but I'm really not sure if its been updated for the P990 yet

huh isnt that weird? profiles totally rocked

I had following profiles in my t68i and used them every day:

normal:ring volume maxed out + buzzer
@cinema: just the buzzer, great for meetings
@home: ring volume was medium
@night: just a silent click when some1 called

these profiles were excellent and very handy, quick

isnt it a handicap now they're left out?

I had Psiloc Total IR for P910. That worked for me.

I used to get around 3-4m range out of it... Albeit a bit temperamental sometimes.

The problem with UIQ 3 is red tape. Application signing rears it's ugly face yet again.

Profiles? You will be waiting a while. Again SE's application signing to blame.

The reason I keep going on about application signing is that developers are going to think long and hard about having to develop something then make a loss on it... Nobody wants to spend money only to lose out because only two people buy it, in the past the only loss was time.

There is no remote on the p990. My point was that it has been done before on the p910

yes silent mode exists, but we were talking about multiple profiles, not just silent or not.

I think there is no IR Remote aplication for S60v3... so that includes n73. There is only to S60v2 just like for uiq2

yeh i no its because of the rather stupid 'signed only' applications that are lowed to run on symbian 9.1 and newer

owel i perhaps thot that it being a sony it might of been beter.

I loved psiloc total IRremote on my old p900. It was a very good and useful aplication. Now i have a p990 and a nokia5500 (S60v3) and for both there´s no aplication like that.=// .

its a shame too bacause the IIR port is ideally located. anybody remember where it was on the p910/p900?
