these days global warming in on the news 24/7
they even say that its way to late, things won't be the same again.
many people are saying: what? why didn't they warn us.
those people probably don't watch the news or talk to other people.

i know technology freaks are also doing their part to help save earth and mankind.
many of us might have some nice small ideas that help little by little.
so instead of keeping them to ourself, lets share them.
so any idea, any thought, and info is more then welcome and should be posted here.

ways to save power
turn of you computer screen when you aren't going to use it for several hours, and unplug that mouse!
turn of the standby button of your TV.(small things, but they help a little bit)
if you've got money buy a solar pannel to share your cellphone, gps or other stuff (i do that, and although sun isn't always arround, the time it is, i'm charging everything i got).
this is what i use

comments are welcome.

I'm still amazed at how you can turn ANY topic into something to do with women !

Back on track with the topic though, The Saturday Times [London] has a supplement which estimates that 85% of energy usage in an average [UK] home is expended by water and space heating, whereas "consumer electronics" only accounts for 2% of energy consumption (probably a bit more for certain esatonian gadget freaks ).

EDIT: Corrected spelling error.

nice one - thing is, there's enough water, it's just so f*cking polluted... Plus it,s making "them" loads of money... Before chavez, when water was privatized in venezuela the american company in charge (that'd be Bechtel - surprise anyone...) eventually charged peasants for rainwater they collected... Bechtel didn't want water to be saved... Most importantly, don't buy what you don't really need, reject every "new" product that is just an exact replica of something existing... For f*cksake, riverrock is tapwater! Yeah but it's safer' you say... Well 10% of all cases of food poisoning are caused by bottled water. The plastic bottles are directly linked to infertility and cancer (they contain xenestrogens)... Bottled water is quite possibly the worst evil we're dealing with! But at a profit margin of up to 12000%...

saving water he.
we could place a few bockets outside when it rains. that water we could use to flush the toilet.
it would be a lot of work, and sound maby incovinient. but it would help abit.

agriculture companies pay big cash to take most of the water for their lands, and the rest of the water is for us civilians. Then they tell us to save on water ha!

It's FUNNY to see how some parts of the world are struggling to have water (for daily consumption as part of our basic necessities) whereas it's told that the planet Earth is 2/3 covered by water . . . .

salt water we got plenty off, sweet water is something else.
the fact is that are planet is only made to support a limited number of people, and we have passed that limit some time ago.
birth controle in less developed or overpopulated countries should be a ruel.

that's right. the amount of water on this planet remains constant, it just takes different forms. so we have a problem with the supply/demand thing.

i collect water for the garden... i'm always amazed just how quickly the butts are filled, and equally, just how quickly they're emptied during the summer months!

today, turn the tap off when you brush your teeth

hey, nice idea about the thread

how do we know that the earth has reached and pasted its capacity? i dont think that is the problem but the way in which we are treating our planet... also as much as id love to help sort this kind of thing out i dont think the little man /woman can make a huge difference. I think more the governments can. ie: the river seven has i think the second highest tide in the world (or maybe europe - not the point tho) and they are still yet to try using tidal power there... i know the implications this may have on biodiversity and natural movements etc... but surely its gotta be better than say nuclear power and wasting the last of our natural resources (the time has to be now to try these things) etc... also the one thing that really sticks in my mind is the whole car issue... now we are a world far to reliant on car travel... we dont car share half enough.. Also hasnt a car been designed to run on water (not simply from your tap if im correct) but didnt one of the big guns like esso (about 5+ years back now) buy this out and practically stopED any kind of production... if this is the case all i can say is money is obviously more important than being on earth for a long time to come...

But to try and get more on topic with regard to ways to cut power consumption, maybe if people stopped leaving their pc's on over a week long stretch may help (wont help you to get that file you been waiting so long for though ) lol...
