Hi All,
I Have STF, and I haven't found anything, I've also googled it and found 1 other person with the same problem. I'm wondering If we're the only two people in the world with this, or if more people have got the problem.

I've got a K800i with latest EROM and F/W (from Wotan) and a Ford S-Max with Factory Fitted Hands free Kit. The Phone pairs OK, it doesn't sync, (it tried but stops saying 'connection lost'), but seems to work fine apart from that. The problem comes when I turn the car off, sometimes the phone doesn't disconnect properly, and the little hands free Icon stays up the top, the only way to clear it is to turn the phone off/on again. I've tried turing the BT off and on, that doesn't work.
I've also tried emptying the SMS Inbox (found that suggestion for a different problem, but tried it anyway), I've also tried associating the handsfree with the 'in-car' profile, but again, no luck
I've contacted SE, but I'm still waiting for a human response.

Anybody out there experienced this, or even better found a cure?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Mods,
Just been looking through, and this may be more at home in the 'software' board - If you agree can you move it please.

Thanks

Not sure if this is a Software problem, but I may be of assistance, as I am pretty aware of your problem.

I have a Jaguar X-Type, with an in-built Bluetooth handsfree, being that Ford is the parent company of Jaguar, I am assuming you have the same kit installed. IT is actually provided by Motorola, and is actually pretty good.

It is by design the connection does NOT end when you turn off the ignition. It remains connected for about 3 to six minuites, and then disconnects. It does it on my S700i, my Motorola V3i, and my K800i.

Why? for many reasons, including the fact the system allows you to continue a call after you turn off the engine (try it, you will notice all the panel lights stay on, until you finish the call).

Do not worry about it. Its normal!

Ok, the phonebook sycnchronisation. My advice is not to follow the instructions on the book!

Do the following (please be aware, my car has a touchscreen display, if you dont have a touchscreen disply, you may have to substitute some of the instructions using your in-car telephone manual):
- Use the internal memory for the phone book, not the SIM.
- Delete the car handsfree device (on mine called Jaguar) from the phones "my Devices" list.
- Switch to phone mode on the car (press the telephone button)
- Initiate the car bluetooth's Discoverable mode with the clear settings option. (For me, that means typing ##3#*# on the CAR phone keypad)
- the car display will show "discover me".
- on your K800i, do a search for Bluetooth devices, and when your car handsfree is found, select it, and enter the pairing code (on mine its 1313)
- when paired, the car will display "no phone attacted", then in a short while the car will try to connect to the phone.
- If the car doesnt automatically connect to the phone, Go to the my Devices list on the K800i, and select the car handsfre, and select
"Connect", this will force the connection from the phone side.
- make sure the "allways allow connection" option is enabled on the K800i for the car handsfree device.

- once connected, leave the engine running for about 1 minuite, then turn off the engine.
- your phone will continue to show its connected to the handsfree. This is normal, and at this point, the car bluetooth is downloading your phonebook entries to the car.
- sit in the car, and wait patiently until the bluetooth handsfree disconnects, this can take up to 6 minutes.

IF you do this right, you will find that when you next start the car, it shoudl automatically connect to the handsfree, and the car phone book shoudl contain all the entries on the phone.

Please note, the phonebook is only downloaded on the FIRST time. if youw ish to synch the phonebook again, you have to enter the phonebook synch code (which i believe is ##2#*#) and then again turn off the engine, and wait till disconnected.

Hope this helped!

Hi Janahan,

Oops, I was a bit ambiguous with my original description of the problem.

I don't think the phonebook is related to my problem, it still displays the called name on the car's Display, so I'm guessing that it accesses the info 'on-the-fly' rather than keeping a copy of the phone book. (It doesn't help that I didn't get a manual for the bluetooth/voice-control kit with my Car!)

The bluetooth kit holds the connection if I'm on a call, that seems to work ok.

The problem I have is that some times, long after the car is switched off, and the phone is well out of bluetooth range, the phone still thinks it's connected.
The only way to cure this is by a hard reset;
the other person I spoke of has the same issue with a tomtom Go 700, (but explains it more clearly than me!)

I've had a reply from SE, they've basically blamed it on my handsfree kits bluetooth profile and went on to explain that the bluetooth standard was no longer 'generic' so couldn't say it'd work on all devices. They also mentioned that the K800i Uses Bluetooth V2.0 (dunno why the devices can't negotiate to the lowest standard like most things do)
I Thought that the whole point of having the Bluetooth SIG and A Standard was precisely so that different devices from different manufacturers could talk to each other - Apparently SE doesn't agree!

Hi guys, I've got an Astra factory fit bluetooth kit. Do you know of anyway that you can "downgrade" to bluetooth v.1? Because I've got exactly the same issue here!!

Sorry to hear that, I've still never had any joy from SE, I've upgraded my K800i through all the available updates, and cross flashed to the first K810i F/W, but the problem still remains.
At present, I'm using a W800i Cross flashed to a K750i, which is working OK.
I've been able to replicate the problem so I'm sure it's a software bug. On my phone/Kit combination, when the phone connects to the hands free, it starts a synchronisation. If you turn off the ignition or the radio during this, the phone gets confused and thinks it's still connected, and will try and route any call through to the car kit (which isn't there anymore) - it won't re-detect the car-kit if it reappears. The only way to stop this is to power off/on the phone.
With the K750i, the headset Icon remains (as in the k800i), but it doesn't adversely affect the operation and will quite happily connect and disconnect form the kit without a problem.
I have explained this at length to SE more than once, but they seem unwilling to acknowledge the fault.

If I ever get a F/W update for the K800i to work. I'll let you know.

In the meantime, All I can suggest is badgering SE's tech support, hopefully if enough people complain they'll sort out their problem.

Hi,

I just bought a Ford C-max, with a Sony sound system with bluetooth, and get the exact same problem you describe, with the phone still displaying the headset icon when I leave the car.

Did you ever find a better workaround, or even a fix for this?

Thanks in advance,

Sverre

I know that I'm not helping right now. But I have exactly the same problem. I have Ford Mondeo MKIV with touchscreen navigation and built-in bluetooth handsfree system. The problem appeared both with K610i and T650 I've noticed that it happens only when phone is taken away from car during synchonisation. So when I take short ride (2mins) handsfree icon allways stays on the screen and I cant talk normally. I hope that navigation firmware upgrade would fix the problem.
BTW: I'm looking for some user forum where I could talk about this navigation (firmware, meps etc.) This is made by Blaupunkt and model name is HSRNS http://www.blaupunkt.com/de/7612300530_main.asp
