> Pop-Up Joystick for Mobile Phone
Bookmark topic
This concept design looks to make phones a little more game-friendly.By popping the center button out into an analog joystick.
ESATO NEWS
It makes your phone much more capable at controlling games, if stopping substantially short of making it full-out game comfortable. Will we see this design on phones in the future? Who knows, but it certainly looks better than most phone's game controls out there now.

Yeah it is so obvious that people overlooked it. The only problem I can foresee is making room inside the phone for the mechanism.

it could potentially be telescopic I guess to overcome that problem

i realy think this has some potential.
however the 'trackball' used in some treo phones and in htc's p3300 are a very well working alternative

I quite like the "mouse pad" on the ipaq 4700 which actually controlled a mouse on screen so you could point and click anywhere
but I suspect the pop up joystick would have more acceptability

pop up joysticks, makes sense. It's a good idea, surprised they hadn't thought of it before.
