Just reinstall the apps-it'll tell you they already exist but re-install them anyway(overwrite) and you'll have 'em back.

When the M600 / W850 / P990 backup / restore chooses to work, there's still the risk that restoring installed apps and settings may re-introduce old problems or expose new incompatibilities, causing all sorts of problems.

As things stand, it may be better to take the trouble toBackup Contacts and Calendar to the external stick.
Use QuickOffice to save Notes and other documents to the stick (or copy them with File Manager).
Use the relevant apps or File Manager to save or copy other data to the stick.
Move any SMS you want to keep to the SIM (but capacity is likely limited). I can't find a way to save MMS.
Leave email on the sever.
Then you may need to spend the best part of a day re-installing and re-adjusting, but avoid corruption from old settings. Installing apps may take less than an hour, but replacing settings is a whole other story.

Until or unless SE fixes the backup / restore, I guess we're stuck. IMO, they're in the process of abandoning UIQ anyway, so it looks like either sell, sue or bear it.
