During the downloading of the firmware, the progress bar displayed in SEUS jumped from 40% to completion. I know there are some users who claimed that the firmware is ok, it is just the status that is not showing correctly.
After upgrading my P990i to the latest firmware a few days ago, I am experiencing serious problem. For example, my phone will go into a mode in which I will not be able to access any "phone" functions like sms or making calls. The phone's other functions looks and works, just that I can't receive or make any phone calls!
Is there a way in which I can verify that the firmware downloaded to my computer is complete?

What do you mean by restore? To reflash the phone again even though SEUS says that I have the latest version? If so, I did that, but still not sure if I have the "complete" firmware... maybe, the only way is to bring down the SE Service Centre

I'd try removing all files and folders in C:\\Program Files\\SonyEricsson\\Update Service\\db (or [wherever you installed SEUS]\\db) and then try a reflash AFTER doing a master reset and/or internal disk format (in the service menu). That will force SEUS to redownload the firmware so any dodginess will disappear.
Also try to reproduce it without restoring any backup, since doing that in some cases cause this kind of strange errors.

It says this everytime, never starts, I have deleted every update filel and re-downloaded and it still does it?!!!
Can anybody help??

as i told before in another forum, i had the same problem, then did another fw update and it went all the way till 100%. Now my p990 works ok.

I got the above error once before. I think the reason was because SE server was down and the software couldn't connect to it. After several hours, it worked again.
If you are getting the error everytime, then you should check the network. Or try giving SE service centre a call, "maybe" you need special settings?!
@jalf, tried a master reset, but still think that my phone is not working right. I have sent it to the service centre today as I suspect that it could be a hardware problem. Thanks for your info.

about the percentage skip, my k800 always does it when i chose the "update not available, continue anyway?" option it will get to bout 50-55% and then delay for about 2mins then skip to 100%, and my k800 has always been ok
but hwne doing a proper update to a new fw a think it goes all way to 100%, not sure though
