So, i was wondering if SonyEricsson will start doing something, From what I know the firmware was due for Week 5 of 2007.
I got a P990i, after I had a T62,T68 P800 and P910a
I owned a bluetooth pen that sonyericsoon stopped supporting 3 months after i bought it. The P800 firmware was seriously broken, and did not work properly for 8 months, now, my P990 crashed seriously too.
Even the bluetooth claims on the P990 are not backed up. It use to be that Ericsson was careful to be bluetooth compatible 100%
I got a Plantronics 590A headset, and the stereo connection worked with every A2DP devices i tried except the P990i (Sony claim to be compliant)
fortunatly, my watch MBW-100 works fine with the P990i, at the exception that the watch stop all A2DP connection to any other devices from the P990i
since I am use to be a member of the SIG. I know couple of people that are very obsede by this behaviors, and as a comsumer that got pretty screwed by Sony ericsson, i am hiring a lawer to check the posibility to get the consumers refund for non working technologies.
I did wait patiently up the week 5 of 2007, now, it is going to get more firm on my side.
Sorry Mister Ericsson. it is time for lawyers to speak!
Who wants to join the class action?

appart from the fact that you don't have any change of winning. appart from setting SE in a bad daylight for the us. the only thing you'll win is our angry feelings towards you.
nobody is perect, and its true that in the good old days /// products where better. but SE is doing the best they can with a tight budget. forget about the little problems. as SE is going for more market share, they'll also support their products better, also the US products.

take it to a

service centre, or take it back to the store you got it from and exchange it for a new one as its not functioning properly.

Looks like your phone needs debranding, so you're not benefitting from the latest updates, which address many (not all) of the P990's shortcomings.
First, find out your CDA: In flip-open at Main Menu, choose Main Menu > System Information
Note your CDA and Organizer versions.
Second, Check
http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/CDA/P990i for your CDA and see the phone's region and provider. You can also compare your Organizer version with the latest (R4B03 now).
If the Region isn't Generic World, your available upgrades will be limited, and you'll need to debrand. Go to
http://www.esato.com/board/vi[....]c=138823&start=195#post1895363 for a brief explanation or to
http://www.seunlock.co.uk/services.html for details.
Some options are
* SE Service Centre. If available: convenient, cheap or free
* Do-it-yourself with SE-tools. Expensive, you never part with your phone
* At least 3 postal services, addresses below for details: modest cost and you post your phone away.
In the UK

International
http://seunlock.co.uk/
SEUS should then give you the latest update. Please let us know how you get on.

I bought it on eBay, I am in USA, and the has a HK signature.
The point is that Sony did not provide a working phone at launch time, and does not allow easy upgrade.

what is your cda version?
that needs to be flashed as said above, so that updates are available to you quicker

Agreed, the device was flawed at launch. I considered a lawsuit myself, even starting to mobilize support (at my-symbian). It's unfortunate that your update path is more difficult, apparently because of a non-generic region, but it could be argued that relief via return to the manufacturer's service centre is reasonable and sufficient. As I understand it, most laws would require the consumer to take
reasonable steps to resolve any issues.
What is not yet clear is whether the publicly available firmware fixes discharge SE'e obligations. In practical terms, it might be best to examine the firmware on offer. It's certainly
much simpler than a lawsuit, and would at least eliminate one defence.
