I rang Fone Doctors in London Bridge and they charge £45 for debranding and £45 for unlocking!!!!! So since there is no debrand/unlock service apart from these opportunists in London that I know of, I am thinking of buying an GNER Standard Advance 2 return ticket to Edinburgh for £49, paying £25 for seunlock to debrand & unlock my phone and I will still be £26 better off PLUS I will get to see Edinburgh and have money for a nice jumbo d0ner kebab and drinks whilst there!

As an aside, is there anyone who would pay these extortionate prices?

Unfortunately there are always people who will pay these shocking prices. There are many disadvantages to having high street stores whom have no direct competition with anyone in their area.

They obviously get that from customers who walk in, so that is what they know they can charge. Whereas as on the forums and onlin you must be competitive and offer value for money, as the community is so close and so tightknit that one problemcan cost you a lot of business.

Debranded my lightly branded vodafone handset today as I was tired of waiting for an update. Took my phone to KINGMOBILEPHONE which is located in south west London. Debranded and cda changed while I waited the whole thing took around 20 minutes. £15 for debranding + £5 for CDA change.
Now I have a generic /1 cda, no vodafone start up and latest firmware. Well worth it for those in London who don't want to send their phone away.
