> K800 - Has the AAC issue been resolved?

Hy there have been missing the forum for a while. It looks like my k800 (R1GB001) still can't play .aac coming from Nokia phones....
Any hint?

BTW: The process you suggest, does it decode and encode agian?(quality loss)

Unfortunately I only have those marvellous Nokia tunes allready encoded in .aac format... I've read about re-encoding in .mp4 or .mp3, but wishing to find a way to avoid an decode-re-encode process.....

Have you tried renaming the file extension to .mp4? I haven't tried it though, just thought it's worth a try.

Because people may have some media in that format and wishing to play it without reencoding.
What is your best advise?

You have not read enough information about encoding yet to make that analysis. Yes decoding and re-encoding can lose lot's of audio quality when completely botched up. However transcoding software loses an insignificant amount of data. Audio stream is ripped to uncompressed pcm first, then encoded in another format. It's a mistake to make rash judgements based on one sentence you read by some so called expert on the internet.
You do not have the option of installing .aac playing software on your phone, therefore the only remaining option is to transcode. The loss of sound quality will be nothing your ears will detect.
dbpoweramp, as mentioned in that other thread, does the job of wrapping aac files in mp4 containers, which incidently involves NO ENCODING AT ALL. Putting an .aac file in an mp4 wrapper doesn't change the audio stream, it only places code around it that allows certain players to understand the audio inside. There is ZERO loss of quality.
super(c) does and excellent job of transcoding different formats, it may also be able to put the .aac file in a wrapper that your phone can understand. The other thing to condsider, Nokia may DRM (copy protect) any audio that is copied to them (especially if copied to the phone with Nokia Audio Manager), which would make the .aac file useless.

i canīt imagine why on earth anyone would have large collections of music converted to raw AAC in first place, its not used by anyone, and the quality, like max said, is exactly the same with MP4/M4A, because it is just AAC in other "clothes"
