Anyone else with problems when doing a backup via Backup Manager? My backup process chrashes a short while after the phone has restarted.

Is there a known issue about that? What can I do?

Delete all previous backups and try again - it worked for me!

If that doesn't help search the forum - this is known issue!

I got the tip to disable the unified message box in the process and then I succeeded. It still bugs me that the voice marks doesn't backup. Neither did my theme, my choise of small zoomlevel in the menues disappeared aswell. Why can't everything be backuped. The phonebook changed sortorder (minor problem).

Cheers,

Mange

Never mind problems with backing up the P990 before updating, there's 2 more serious problems with restoring afterwards.

Firstly, sometimes the restore reportedly refuses to work. Secondly, restoring installed apps and settings may re-introduce old problems or expose new incompatibilities.

As things stand, it may be better to take the trouble toBackup Contacts and Calendar to the external stick.
Use QuickOffice to save Notes and other documents to the stick (or copy them with File Manager).
Use the relevant apps or File Manager to save or copy other data to the stick.
Move any SMS you want to keep to the SIM (but capacity is likely limited). I can't find a way to save MMS.
Leave email on the sever.
Then you may need to spend the best part of a day re-installing and re-adjusting, but avoid corruption from old settings. Installing apps may take less than an hour, but replacing settings is a whole other story.

Until or unless SE fixes the backup / restore, I guess we're stuck. IMO, they're in the process of abandoning UIQ anyway, so it looks like either sell, sue or bear it.
