After having my P990i for about six weeks now, I can finally browse the internet with it. I've read the manual numerous times on setting up the internet connections over and over but I can only get as far as seeing my wireless connection but cannot get connected. Every time that I would try to connect, I would get the message "Unable to connect" all the time and no other error messages. I bought an N80 approximately three weeks after getting the P990i and I was able to get online with it once I was familiar with its settings. Keep in mind that the difference between the two phones is that the N80 has the 802.11g while the P990i has 802.11b WLAN capability.

And tonight I decided to read up the manual again, word for word as always, when it dawned on me. I got my wireless router on G-Only under my wireless network mode...duhh!

I cannot believe the speed of the connection.....wow! Isn't the '802.11g' supposedly faster than the '802.11b'? I ask this because the P990 is much much faster than the N80 while browsing.

I'm so excited and relieved at the same time that I thought I'd share this with you all. I started to post this using the P990 initially but I got the kernel error and it shut my internet connection down....argh!

I hope this would help others who are having difficulties using WLAN to get connected online like I did. The problem may not be the phone but simply the wireless mode on the router.

Sounds brilliant. I hope more devices appear with WLAN. Is it the fastest way of browsing you've come across?

If found the P990 wifi to be extremely fast too and it was one of the first comments I made when I first got it.

I know people complained it didn't have 802.11g but to be honest, on a hand set like this, I don't think you really need much faster except for streaming video perhaps.

the fastest browsing I have done (measurably) is on the TyTN via 3G/HSDPA and I'm sure it will take a while for HSDPA speeds to be beaten and agani, I'm not sure with what we do with these devices today that we need too much more speed, and lets not forget the power requirements to handle the incoming data that fast

@R1, wlan was a bummer at first with my router too, now it works a treat and no issues whatsoever.

For me wifi is absolutely the best feature of P990. I almost stop using PC when it comes to browsing.
